Operation
Community Rowing (CRI) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven club funded by program fees and contributions. The CRI season runs April - October yearly, and is divided into terms. During those terms, participants are enrolled in a structured program 2-5 days per week for 1 to 3 hours at a time, depending upon the program. CRI offers programs for adults and youth (12-18 years old), at the beginner, recreational, and competitive levels. Registration in CRI programs is open to anyone whose skills match the program. Spaces are all filled on a first-come first-served basis. We offer open sculling for rowers who qualify. CRI also offers adaptive rowing and is home to G-ROW (Girls Row) Boston. For more information on these programs, as well as Boat Storage and Scholarships, please see the Programs page.

Volunteer Work
Community Rowing is a group of people working together to make rowing accessible, affordable and fun. We exist due to the wealth of talent and energy of our membership. In order to keep our club operating, all members are required to contribute service hours to work done throughout the season. Whether it is a work party for house and grounds cleanup, coxing, ergometer maintenance, fundraising or special events, it is the responsibility of every member to contribute to the enrichment of our organization both on and off the water. Don't worry about not knowing what to do, we'll teach you! Volunteer and service opportunities are posted regularly throughout the season. All members are requested to check off at least one service opportunity on the registration form.

Guidelines
All registered participants are considered members of Community Rowing. Our goal is for all members to take an active role in supporting the club and its operation. We rely on member volunteers for our two work-parties. In addition, we ask that each member have knowledge of the following:

REGISTRATION
All registration information, swim tests, membership dues and program fees must be received prior to the beginning of the term. Please ensure that you are familiar with refund, credit and transfer policies prior to enrollment.

HEALTH
It is important to understand the physical demands of rowing. A physician should be consulted before beginning to row. This is particularity important if you have a history of back problems.

ATTENDANCE
Rowing is the ultimate team sport. The success of each program is dependant upon consistent attendance.

COMMUNITY
Each member can impact the quality of the club by volunteering for special events, adhering to club policies, and respecting fellow rowers.
