John Sisk
John started his rowing career on the Hudson River with F.D. Roosevelt HS way back in the age of wooden boats and oars and continued rowing sporadically with the Marist College team.After a lengthy absence-during which he flew helicopters for the US Navy and sold investments for Morgan Stanley John returned to rowing in 2004 right here at CRI-after Riverside Boat Club(RBC) directed him up river to get some more recent rowing experience. In 2005 John moved to Princeton NJ and joined Carnegie
Lake Rowing Assn (CLRA). John was elected to the CLRA Board of Trustees and also chaired the Competition and Safety committees. He moved back to Boston in 2006 and complete with “recent” rowing experience in carbon fiber boats-with oars to match joined RBC, where he still rows competitively-mostly in the pair, the best boat in the world to row and race!
John started his coaching career in the spring of 2006 serving as the Girls 3V coach for Boston Latin School under Gillian Curran. John started coaching at CRI in June of 2006 and has coached GSI, Youth Skills Camp, Adult Learn to Row, Sculling 101, Comp Novice Boys, Comp Women and various Out-Reach programs. He has also subbed for various other programs including: Competitive Youth Girls, GSII and Youth Learn to Row. In addition to his coaching at CRI John is the head rowing coach for Brookline HS. Previously he was the head coach at Brandeis University (Club team) and Mystic Valley Regional Charter School. John is a Level II certified coach by USRowing, CPR and First Aid Certified, and has completed USRowing’s Trailer safe driving course.
