Matt Zatorski

Matt Zatorski is a USRowing Level III certified coach from Chicago, IL.  At CRI, he is responsible for Youth Learn to Row while also coaching the Varsity Boys Team at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.

At Chicago’s Loyola Academy, Zatorski learned to row under CRI Executive Director Bruce Smith where he was a Midwest Champion in the Men’s Varsity 8+ and finished 5th in the Grand Final for the Mens Senior 8+ at Scholastic Nationals in 2001.  He later went on to row at the University of Notre Dame, where he made the Men’s Varsity 8 as a Freshman and earned his dual B.A. in Great Books and Classics (Greek).

Coach Zatorski began his coaching career as the Girls’ Freshman/Novice Coach at his alma mater Loyola Academy while completing a year of study at the University of Chicago.  From 2005-2009, he was the Head Freshmen/Novice Boys Coach before taking over as Head Varsity Boys Coach for the New Trier Rowing Club’s.  During his time in Chicago, he coached 9 boats to medal winning performances at the Midwest Scholastic Championships, including taking home championships in the Men’s Freshman (’07) and Varsity 8+ (’09) categories.  He also oversaw 4 Scholastic Nationals finalists, winning gold in the Freshmen 8+ (’07) and bronze in the Men’s Second Varsity 8+ (’09).

Coach Zatorski also teaches English at the secondary level and is nearing completion of his Masters in Teaching.  When not coaching or teaching, he can be found biking along the Charles and playing Ultimate Frisbee whenever he gets a chance.
