Competitive Men’s Summer Sweep Program Community Rowing hosts a summer-only, open weight, competitive men’s sweep program. The program will be aimed at the collegiate and recently graduated athlete looking to make the transition to more senior levels of rowing in an intensely competitive team environment. This rigorous program will emphasize the development of each participant’s mental, physical and technical ability to advance the program’s goal of producing boats and athletes capable of medal winning performances at USRowing Nationals and the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. Additionally, the program will seek to impart the knowledge necessary for each athlete to guide his own development beyond the program to achieve personal goals. Participants in the program will have the opportunity to row in two, four and eight oared shells and have access to train using CRI’s 30+ ergometers. Occasionally, some participants may have the opportunity to row the single scull. The program
will run from the first weekend in June and will culminate with a post
season banquet the weekend following the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. The program will commence with a brief meeting followed by a 30 minute warm up and stretching period. The erg test will follow with all participants starting in unison. Individuals will then have a 30-minute rest period. Following the rest period boats will be selected and a preliminary evaluation of each athlete’s rowing technique will occur during a 60-minute swing row at a light to moderate pace. The tentative
