Coxswains serve a critical role in a sweeps boat, ensuring safety by steering. They create a competitive edge by coordinating the power and rhythm of the rowers and delivers information, motivation, and encouragement to the crew.

Do you have experience as a coxswain, or have you always wanted to learn?

We would love to hear from you to help you find the right fit with one of our sweeps programs. Our competitive and recreational programs are always looking for steersmen/women who have the skills and motivation to pilot CRI crews on the Charles.

Please reach out to contact one of our Friendly Persons at friendlyperson@communityrowing.org, and they’ll steer you in the right direction based on your interests and experience. But watch out—coxswains are traditionally thrown into the water after a regatta win!
