Welcome to rowing at Community Rowing, Inc.
Beginners have two options to start their rowing journey. Intro to Rowing is our basic introductory class that will get you on the Charles and learning the basics in no time. Classes are taught in the 12 person barge allowing participants the opportunity to learn rowing terminology and technique. Each rower controls one oar and the boat is steered by a coxswain, who will be a rower from the class. Upon successful completion of Intro to Rowing, students can progress to Novice Sweeps.
The second option for a beginner is Sculling I. Taught solely in our stable Alden single rowing shells, commonly referred to as Tubbies by the CRI community, participants are taught how to row a shell with two oars by themselves. Upon successful completion of Sculling I, students can progress on to Sculling II.
Must have a swim test on file.
All rowers must be a COMMUNITY SUPPORTER. What is this?
