Recreational programs are for anyone who has ever wanted to row on the Charles River. Community Rowing Inc. offers an in-depth experience rowing on the Charles for adult 18 years of age or older. Starting with Adult Novice Rowing participants experience the excitement of this classic leisure sport. Classes begin in the barge, reinforcing basic skills and knowledge of rowing, and graduate into the eight person shells after a few sessions! Rowers take turns in the coxswain seat to help their fellow classmates navigate the river safely. Once rowers complete the novice program they can progress onto Sweeps I for a full year and then onto Sweepts II.
These programs are NOT a prerequisite for competitive programs. The major difference between the recreational program and the competitive program is the expectation to compete: recreational athletes will not travel to regattas and will row in a learning-oriented environment.
Prerequisite: Intro to Rowing. Must have a valid swim test on file.
All rowers must be a COMMUNITY SUPPORTER. What is this?
