Competitive programs are for young adults looking to competitively race on the Charles River. Community Rowing Inc. offers both boys and girls competitive teams. Starting with the Novice program participants learn about teamwork and racing. After a complete year in the novice program rowers can continue on to the varsity team
Registration Details: Registration for youth is not complete until you submit your child’s Participant Health Release Form. This form will be sent to you in your registration confirmation email.
All rowers must have a swim test on file at CRI.

Youth Competitive Novice Rowing
The Novice Competitive Program is a preparatory program for the Competitive Youth Program. Set up as a team, rowers work towards team goals as well as individual goals. Participants learn the basics of rowing and racing. Coxswains are also needed for the novice team. Novice Rowing is offered in the Spring and Fall only.

Youth Competitive Varsity Rowing
This high-level program is designed for athletes who have completed a novice rowing program are dedicated to improving their rowing skills and compete at a high level. Varsity rowers will challenge themselves mentally and physically and develop in a team environment. Commitment to a 6 day practice schedule is encourage of all participants. Additional time is required on weekends for travel to and from races. Competitive rowing is offered in the Spring and Fall as well as two summer sessions.

Youth Competitive Summer Rowing
This high-level summer program is designed for athletes who are motivated to improve their rowing skills, compete at a high level on a national scale, challenge themselves mentally and physically, develop in a team environment, and commit to a regular practice schedule. The summer programs meet twice a day for practice and two sessions are available.
