Required Permits

PERMIT APPLICATION PACKAGE

This packet must be submitted at least 30 days in advance of your event.

 Your complete Permit Application Package consists of the following documents:

One (1) Filled Out Application: DCR Special Use Permit Application 

One (1) Document: Certificate of Liquor liability Insurance with the DCR and CRI named as additionally insured.

 Three (3) Checks: DCR Special Use Permit Check for $35.00, One Day Liquor Permit Check for $75 or $150, Police Detail Check for $176 or $352

DCR Special Use Permit is required for all events.

Fill in only areas marked by an arrow.  Please sign and date page 2 of the application. Write a check and attach it to the application for $35 made payable to:  Commonwealth of Massachusetts(DCR.) 

 

One day Liquor License from the City of Boston is only required for events with alcohol.

The fee is $150 for an All Alcoholic Beverage License or $75 for a Malt and Wine Beverage  License.  Please write the check to the “City of Boston” for the correct amount– Either $75, or $150 based on the type of alcohol being served at your event. Please include this check in your permit application packet.

 

 The Police Detail is required for all events: $176 (0-4 hour Event) or $352 (5-8 hour Event)

Please make this check payable to:  “Massachusetts State Police” and include it in your permit application packet.  The DCR takes care of hiring the Police Detail for you.

 

Certificate of Liability Insurance naming CRI and DCR as additionally insured is only required for events with alcohol.

Please call your caterer, or bartender and ask them to call their insurance company and produce a Certificate of Liability insurance that names the following two organizations as certificate holders:

  • i. Community Rowing, Inc., 20 Nonantum Road, Brighton, MA 02135
  • ii. Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR),

Please include this document(s) in your application packet.

Note: Sometimes insurance companies will put both organizations on ONE Certificate, while other companies print TWO certificates, each naming one organization in the certificate holder section. Either way works!
